Homemade Coffee Roaster

Coffee Roaster

As with most of my projects, the idea for this one first came from my typical day-to-day activities. Specifically, after I had drank about my hundredth cup of coffee with my coworker in our office.

To begin my homemade coffee roaster, I just started spit-balling ideas with my coworker. Before I knew it, I had an entire design started up in my head. My first idea incorporated an entirely electric design. After a few trials that took about 3 times too long to roast, which resulted in tremendous loss in flavor, I decided to scrap the homemade electric heating coil design and go with a standard propane design like you might find documented all over the internet (sometimes the tried and true is the way to go).

There is still a long ways to go with the final design with adding automation to the design, but most all of mechanical operation has been completed.

3D Prints

Another hobby of mine that I have recently picked up is 3D printing. I still have only done a handful of projects with it yet, but the possibilities are literally endless! Which is exactly what makes me it so intriguing to me! I chose a Creality Ender 3 3D as my printer not only because it was an economical choice, but also because came as a kit for me to assemble (which in my opinion adds to the fun of tinkering)! The most useful thing I have created so far is a phone holder integrated with a wireless charger. This started as a single charging pad and after using it a few times, I realized I wanted it to hold my phone upright. Seeing as I created the design for the first enclosure, creating another to hold this one upright was a breeze! This, along with just a few of my other test prints can be seen below.
